Hi Libra Divas!
I'm Clare, I'm 37, I live in the UK, and "Libra Diva" sums me up perfectly!!
I don't go out to work, but I have two boys (one with autism and ADHD) that keep me busy. I also have a raft of health niggles that, at the moment, are keeping me from doing as much "proper" exercise as I should - these include endometriosis, pallindromic arthritis, and most recently, adult-onset asthma. I hoping the doctor will clear me this week to return to Zumba - I haven't been since I broke my ankle in July last year - because it's the one exercise class that doesn't feel like torture!
Most of my calorie burn at the moment comes from the chores - but before you tell me that's cheating - all my BMR and TDEE calculations are set on sedentary, and I don't count the little bit here and there that I do several times a day. I only count it if it is at least 15 minutes in duration and causes my pulse to rise whilst I'm doing it.
I eat a vegetarian diet, but the family eat pretty much everything. I like to cook and find ways to lower the fat and calorie content of recipes, and to increase the vegetable content for the meat eaters. I'm trying to trick my other half into losing a few pounds too!!
My weaknesses are chocolate and wine and lack of motivation! But just putting a bit more thought in, and trying to be "good" I have lost two pounds in the last week!!

Sounds like Wii Fit Plus would be a perfect at home alternative for you - not high impact but plenty of variety to keep things interested (check my email for more detailed suggestions). I don't know about the autistic child, but the ADHD one would probably really get into the Wii Fit Plus games too. They have biking, skateboarding, segway, boxing, tight rope walking etc. And a top ten score chart for most, to encourage friendly competition and trying to beat your personal best.
Hope the doctor ok's the Zumba class. Having real-world people you meet with regularly is also a great motivation all by itself. Like me and boot camp.
Zumba sounds like the Caribean equivalent for you of what belly-dancing used to be for me (It doesn't feel like exercise when you are wearing chiffon )

By the way - The best exercise in the world is ... the one you do regularly! So don't let ANYONE tell you that something like Wii Fit Plus or briskly walking around the block regularly "isn't propper exercise". Anything that raises the pulse and either breaks a sweat or increases you respiration (within Dr-acceptable limits) is "propper exercise" for you.
