Do you feel like to have to work harder?

I know as the weight comes off you have to work harder to keep burning the same number of calories, because you have less weight to move. Anyone feel like they have to work harder now to lose the last couple pounds then you did to lose the first ones?

Unfortunately yes - I'm having the same problem. I lost around 2 stone just over a year ago and am battling to try and lose the last stone. Does anyone have any tips?

Absolutely!! So frustrating !!! Not only am I burning less calories, I am older and have that fact to deal with. When our estrogen drops then our metabolism does also.

You will need to do some changing. Either increase or decrease your exercises. Do the same with your food. Keep going...you will get past this and eventually get to your goal.

Yep. This board has some good info on why it's so hard to lose those last few pounds when you're already relatively lean:

Plus, if you're doing the same exercises over and over, your body tends to get used to them so it takes less effort to do the same routine. A lot of people on this board will tell you that the best things to do to lose that last bit of jiggle are to lift weights so you build muscle and replace steady state cardio with high intensity interval training.

Thanks for all the sympathy ladies! I know I'm stronger so I can do more but it gets tough. I like to do classes because they motivate me I just wish they were not so expensive.

Yes, for exactly the reasons you discribed.

I went on a walk with a lady who has 45+ lbs to lose and she was literally sweating and struggling (wasn't wearing her HRM but I'm sure hers was a good deal elevated), whereas my heart rate didn't even get "in the zone." :grumble: Takes more work to get your heart rate up when your heart is healthy!!

But, I'm not complaining. I would rather have to work harder than be 45 lbs overweight.
