Which calculator do you use?

There are so many calculators out there, and they each give me a different number!

I am trying to maintain 134 -135, I'm up to 1450 calories now before exercise.

I was listening to a Jillian Michaels podcast a couple weeks ago, and this caller could have been me! She was trying to maintain the same weight, and was very nervous about losing OR gaining.

The caller was eating about 1300 calories a day, and Jillian said she should probably be up around 1800, and that she should add 100 calories every 2 weeks, since the caller may have messed with her metabolism.

So, I have been adding calories to my daily allowance when I go to 133 for a few days in a row.

Sorry to babble. Just looking for input!

MFP says my maintenance is 1600 but i found that a bit low (i a 5ft5 and 126ish) so i maintain on between 1800 -2000 cals and exercise cals.

carry on as you're doing and add 100 cals per week till you feel you're at a reasonable number. most importantly, eat your exercise cals, or you will always be creating a deficit.

you might also want a maintenance 'range' rather than one number (mine is 122-126) to account for fluctuations - i have learn that my weight doesnt stay exactly the same all fo the time, but the range stops me stressing about it.

    Thanks for the help.

I am really happy today because I realized I've been in my maint. range - 133 - 135 for a full month.

I actually dipped below that one day, so that scared me into adding another 50. I'm up to 1500 now. MFP says I should be at 1660 for maint. We'll see if I'm able to get up to that or not.

It usually takes me a few days to get used to a new number, and not be scared of eating it. I just don't want to go above my range, and I don't want to go below either, I think I wouldn't feel like myself if that make any sense.

I use my walmart calculator based on these calculations

If you just want to go by some website's random equations there was a scientific paper published based on the quantification of the effect of energy imbalance on bodyweight. The authors of this study made this addorable little calculator that lets you play with all the numbers mentioned above. They take the changes in the human metabolism into account, looking at the fact that a 3500 calorie deficit equaling 1 lb of weight loss isn't that percise.
