Seriously, around 3000 calories????

I did the math: My BMR according to the Harris Benedict is 1703 and from the Katch McArdle is 1597. I am exclusively breastfeeding to the tune of 30 ounces a day which is another 500 calories. I try to work out 6 days a week for an average of 700 calories-HRM.

This means I should be eating 2800-2900 calories a day. This seems like A LOT!!!

1) Did I do this right?

2) Any other women eat this much, and if you do, can I peak at your diary OR any helpful hints

Most days I manage around 2300, but the scale has been stuck for the last month. I did start a lifting program with a personal trainer three weeks ago and am seeing results (trimming and firming on my legs and arms, but my apple belly is still hanging around)

Advice/Encouragement/Comments????

I wrote a post very similar to yours. I'm breastfeeding my 9 month old right now. My BMR from fat2fit was 1352. But I'm getting 1736 and around there with several other calculators. So currently I'm at 2300 (meaning 2600 with 300 breastfeeding calories). But if I were to use the higher BMRs then my cut calorie total for weight loss would be 2516 (2816 with breastfeeding calories). ??? I don't know. I'm still losing right now at a slow weight. But I'm continuing to ramp up my workouts and gradually burning more each work. So I'm nervous that this will become a problem at some point if I'm using too low of a number.

I'm hoping someone pops into one of our posts with some wisdom!

Mine would be as high as yours if I did that much of a burn in my workouts. Honestly- I had to scale back the huge cardio. I simply cannot eat that many calories back consistently. We don't lose weight from exercise anyway- our deficit is made in the kitchen, the gym is for reshaping and cardiovascular fitness. If you love working out and making those big burns- that's great! Keep doing it- but be prepared to mow down a lot of food :D If it's just something you're doing because you're 'supposed' to- skip some of it.

    My two cents.
