New to the Paleo lifestyle

I'm six days into the Paleo lifestyle and didn't know it!

I'm 45 and was diagnosed with Crohn's twelve years ago. Over the past few years I have developed Crohn's related RA. In addition to treatment with my medical doctor (I'm on IV Remicade), I have begun seeking alternative treatments.

Last Sunday I began "RepairVite" and am following the diet protocol given. Last night I was reading a magazine and realized the diet protocol I was given was very close to the Paleo diet.

I am excited to find ways to keep this new way of eating and hopefully see improvement with inflammation and overall health!

I would love to hear how others came to the Primal/Paleo and what changes they have seen in their health. I welcome all friends who are seeking a healthy lifestyle! :flowerforyou:

Peace,
Cami

(thanks for the add, btw !!)

I'm not at a place where I can say it's changed me yet, but I do know from past experiences experimenting with cutting out wheat and dairy that my body does run a lot better (my taste buds are the only ones who need convincing).

    for instance-
wheat= bloating, fatigue, and cravings (often for even more carby things)
milk/lactose= bloating, digestive "troubles," we'll say
too much sodium (which I usually get from processed food sources vs. just shaking it on my food)=migraines!!!!

Thank you Squishy...The plan will be much easier to keep up now that I know there are cookbooks and other resources to help.

So happy to have you as a friend!

happy to have you add me as a friend --- I adopted Paleo mostly for weight control but have had no trouble giving up grains. Dairy was more of a problem but I find I lose weight more easily without the dairy. My DH on the other hand is borderline Type II diabetic and he has really seen big improvements just by dropping the grains from his diet --- except he won't give up his oatmeal/oatbran in the morning. He doesn't read as widely as I do so isn't as convinced that full out Paleo is the way to go. -- still even with a moderate Paleo approach his glucose levels have come down.
Wishing you lots of success in your journey.
