Donate Blood, adjust diet?

I am very new to tracking everything that goes into my body. Before i applied to the, "it is not too bad for me" school of thought. My wife has been killing it with measuring and counting and is seeing great results and has me playing along.
My question is how do i adjust my caloric intake when i donate blood? I am going to donate blood today, and i want to replenish, but without jumping off the guidelines i have been following.
Any suggestions?

Yikes good question!
The internet seems conflicted about the answer. Seems like you need between 300-600 calories to replace the blood lost but that is something your body will be doing gradually over the next month or so. I would vote that you eat a little extra (particularly if you feel light-headed at all) and drink lot's of fluids. Probably should avoid exercising right away. (You probably already know that.)
Good luck!

Thank you. I passed on the bag of cookies and the can of Coke and took a bottle of water and an apple... The cream puffs did look good, but i didn't really see how that would "replace" anything. I feel just fine, but i should avoid power lifting while drinking vodka tonight.
Thank you again.0 -
Do you often power lift while drinking vodka? I really prefer tequila while power lifting.0
