Tips for finding an Endocrinologist

Once I get insurance again, I'm going to a specialist for many reasons. One, obviously, is I no longer have a thyroid and they can take charge of that issue better than a general practitioner. Another is, PCOS and diabetes run rampant in my family. I have 100+ pounds to lose, and my period has been wacky for the last six months, plus little things like I'm tired all the time and have little to no energy. So since all these things are hormone related, and probably all interlocked together, I'm going to let a specialist untangle the knots.
So do you guys have any recommendatios for finding a good endocrinologist? What do you look for in one? Is there any particular questions I need to ask of them first?

Hello,
I have only found my physicians through word of mouth (i.e. by the grace of God!), however, about.com has some interesting articles that you may want to read:

Good luck in your search! Let us know how it goes.
