Just got back Saturday from doing 32 miles on the AT. Went from Devils Fork Gap to the Nolichucky River. Started out in the rain but the weather was great for the whole trip. Water was plentiful. And the views from Big Bald were amazing.

If you want to see me trip report it is on my blog at: melissaonthetrail.com

Now I am stuck with dayhikes until the 1st weekend of June.

Hope everyone is getting some great hikes in.

That is so awesome! My husband and I are going to hike through the Maryland portion of the AT during the end of June. That trip will be our first backpaking trip. We are so excited and can't wait to go!!

I did the Maryland section in 2008. It was a great section. My hiking partner broke her ankle up on Weaverton Cliffs on our first day out so be careful. You are going to love it.

I have no tips. I know she wasn't wearing sturdy enough shoes. I wear boots but I do believe a good pair of trail runners can offer the support you need.

The funny thing is, she wasn't even walking. She was standing at the overlook and took a step and it happened.

You are going to have an awesome trip.

I will be out that way in early June as well. I am mainly going to ride the Ocoee and do some mtn biking nearby though. Good luck with your trip in early June. How many miles are you wanting to log this year?

Jealous! Are you aiming to do the whole trail? This is something my husband and I want to do. I love that you are doing it a bit at a time. That so motivates me to start this challenge. :) Happy trails.

Eventually I would like to do the whole trail. I am not crazy enough to do it all in one year though. I like my creature comforts :)

I actually just got back from doing 77 miles up in Virginia. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

So far this year I have done almost 200 miles on the trail.

200 miles this year... that is awesome. yeah Virginia is alot tougher than most people realize. There are some great sections of the AT in Virginia though. When are you heading back?

For a long trip probably not until next year unless I can figure out the money thing, then maybe in the fall.

The rest of the year will be overnighters more than likely and day hikes.
