Bodyweight

I know that heavy lifting is promoted more with this group, but I wanted to offer an alternative for those that don't have a gym membership or the equipment to lift at home. Body-weight exercises provide functional strength and endurance training with little to no equipment. They can be modified for all levels of ability as well. You are also bringing in balance and flexibility to the mix!
I don't have a gym membership because I am a member of a yoga studio and it's too costly to do both. I recently read "You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren and it's an excellent read. He promotes the eat more philosophy! The iPad/iPhone app is great too. There are 10 week plans with multiple levels and all the exercises with photos.
I hope this might help someone out. Have a great day!

**I didn't mean to post this with the topic "Bodyweight" only...Ugh and it won't let me edit it. Ah well.

I am currently doing You Are Your Own Gym (YAYOG) and I love it!!! I can feel a difference already. I just completed week 2, day 4 and tomorrow I start a new exercise routine...I'm kinda nervous because I can't do regular pushups, but I'm going to modify it by utilizing something lower to the ground than the arm of my couch (which is what I've used the past 2 weeks). I have the book and the app on my phone and they are both great!!! I'm amazed at how useful your own bodyweight is when used correctly!
I strongly recommend this to anyone who is in the same situation as I am, I live too far away and more importantly, I can't afford a gym membership! It is a wonderful tool....
Hope this helps If anyone has any questions, please feel free to message me. I'm no pro, but I can try to help. Also, there is a group called Hooya! Give me more! that is totally based on YAYOG. Come join us:drinker: The more the merrier!!!:flowerforyou:0 -
