You have no idea how excited I am to find you guys!!!
A little about me, I'm 27/f 5'8. I had gastric bypass surgery (Roux-en-y) on 12/14/04 at the ripe young age of 19. I weighed 350 that morning. Due to insurance reasons I was required to get the procedure with an open incision, instead of laproscopically. So I have a 7 inch scar down my stomach, and remained in the hospital for 5 days. I lost a lot of weight, over the course of the next year and a half, I got down to 185. And then I lost sight of what I was doing, lets be real I got lazy. I turned 21 and acted like a typical college kid (even though my body thought otherwise) I got the first boyfriend I had ever had, and landed myself a pretty kick *kitten* job. I got so wrapped up in the life I was living, and comfortable, that my diet and exercise habits went out the window. Fast forward to the beginning of April, I looked in the mirror and saw "the old" fat me! I was horrified, stepped on the scale, and it said 235! I was pissed at the scale and more so pissed at myself! Since then I have been really focusing on my diet, and getting back into the routine and habits that I was initially taught after having the surgery. I have dropped down to 219, as of Monday. I want to get myself back on track and get my body better and right. My friends and family are amazing, and I love them dearly. However none of them have had gastric bypass, while some of them are big and know what its like to be fat and try to diet, they don't understand what its like to have gastric bypass and what its like to now reverse the damage I have done since getting it done.
Sorry this is so long, just wanted to let you all know there is a newbie here, and that I am so excited to find wls support!

Welcome back! I wish I had the courage to have had my RnY years ago like you did, I just had mine by laproscopy last Monday and spent 6 days in the hospital after having some sort of reaction to the anesthesia. You got the weight off before and you know you can do it again. There are lots of great people here on Myfitnesspal to help with encouragement.0

Welcome! I had my open R-N-Y on March 13, 2012 and I was out of the hospital after two days. When I started all this in November I weighed 265 lbs, not my heaviest, but I had to do something, because all my health issues were starting to catch up to me. I'm only about two months out, but everyday is a challenge for me. I am still learning the right portion sizes and not to over eat what I do have.
Congratulations on getting yourself on track. Never give up! Life is meant to give us twists and turns, some are for the good and some are life lessons that we haven't quite got the handle of and need to pay closer attention to.
I am always learning something new about myself and since surgery, I am constantly surprised at the things I can now do.
I have lost 30 lbs so far since surgery and overall I have lost 60 lbs since starting.0 -
welcome, as you can probably guess some of us are here to lose for the first time, some are here to maintain and some are here to get back on track; either way you are among friends.0

Welcome! I was only 21 when I got mine and had a similar trajectory. I started at 450, dropped to low to 230 and leveled off at 250 which is where I should be. Fast forward to about a year ago and I was getting sick of buying new clothes when I had all these clothes that I had just bought that were too small again...
When I found MFP I had already lost 40, so I've come pretty far, but I still have 30 to go. Just looking to go that extra step and motivation! Welcome and congrats on getting back on track too!0 -
