I'm running my first 1/2 Marathon this weekend (Sunday) in Lincoln, Nebraska. I'm trained up and ready to break 1:55. Unfortunately, it looks like the weather my suck. Righ now the forecast is 70 degrees, humid, and a 50% chance of rain/thunderstorms.

No fun, I'm running a 12k race this weekend and it's finally supposed to have stopped raining!

What is your goal time if you have one (and if you don't mind sharing)?

My goal time is 1:53:36. Kind of specific, but that's what the "Smartcoach" on runnersworld came up with for me.

Oh, it went great! My goal was actually 1:53:36 and I came in at 1:50:37. It was easier than any of my training runs.
I started out running with the 1:55 pacer, but he was going too slow for me so I ditched him after about 2.5 miles...right about the time he talked about walking through the first water station...What? Anyway, it was a great experience and I'm looking forward to my next one.

Amazing time! was it your first half? how long did you train? Sorry for all the questions but i did my first half in 2h 17min 2 years ago and i really want to do my second half in 2hr or under so i'm wondering how realistic it is to shave 17mins and strategy? Was thinking of following an intermediate training program 3 months before but for now i've joined a running club to get my fitness back up we run every mon and wed for at least 5.5miles then i also do 2 days a week cross/circuit training, any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Yep, it was my first 1/2. I trained for 20 weeks. Check out the smartcoach on www.runnersworld.com. That's what I used. It starts out with moderate mileage and increases over time. As far as strategy goes, see if they have pacers at your race and hang with the 1:55 guy.
