Alright so I keep reading all this info on the forums about people needing to up their cals in order to lose weight. And it brings to mind, well if that were true why does surgery work for so many people (even if it didn't for me)? Any thoughts on this? When I do all my calculations MFP tells me to eat 2100 a day, that seems SO high to me. And I feel like thats what I was eating before making changes. Now I am usually between 1300-1700. When I eat the 1500-1700 I am not feeling hungry. The other day I tried eating the 2100 and I felt overly full and sick. But anywhere else I ask a question or comment on this, people seem to think this is starving myself! I decided to post this question here instead of in the main forum as to avoid some of the rude people .

What surgery did you have and when? I think years of being obese plus weight loss surgery can really screw with our metabolism. I had WLS 3.75 years ago. I learned how many calories I need by trial and error. I need around 2000 to maintain and 1700 to lose. I think you need to stick with 1500-1700 for a few weeks and see how you do.0

I have the same questions, but I'm going to stick to 1200-1400 and see what that gets me (MFP says I should have 1570). Being so heavy, I think it's better to try to get the fat off as quickly as possible, even at the risk of some muscle. If I get to a plateau, then I'll try changing up my calories.0

I had the lapband 3 years ago... I've posted before how I've actually gained weight since, not lost it. I've been at this for 3 weeks and it feels like my pants are a little looser... that being said I just got on the scale and I am back up to the most I've ever been I wish I had health insurance, I'd go ask my doctor about all this... but I can't. I really am not eating too much differently than a few weeks ago, but I am making better choices when I go out, or at home small things like skip the olive oil on the salad and save 200 calories and just go with balsamic vinegar. I am also greatly reducing my sodium intake and lowering the carbs. I am finding its saving me about 500 calories a day. Plus now I am being more active. I am sure you are spot on about my metabolism cuz I cannot fathom eating the 2150 calories it tells me too.0
