After a month of EMTWL I am up 8 lbs and the scale just moved to 170. In 2004 I was at my heaviest of 229 and then I started exercising and cut out the junk and after 2 years I was down to 139 and a size 10/12.
I stayed at around 140 - 145 until September and then the weight started to creep back on after an injury prevented me from exercising. I was up to 160 when I found this site.
When that scale moved to 170 this morning and then I measured myself and all my measurements were up at least 1 inch and I couldn't put on a size 14 pants I cried. I feel terrible and I do not feel healthier at all. All I cam see is the scale and the measuring tape going up as well as my pant size. My thighs are rubbing, my belly is jiggling and I feel crap.

Morning! What type / how much exercise are you doing ? Staying consistent with food? To gain 8 lbs ...real weight to me equals FAT, you'd have to have eaten excess of 3500 x 8. I doubt you did that ... Right?0

Are you actually eating at your tdee-15% or are you just eating more than you used to.?
You need to actually commit to that # even though it seems big... and those lbs you gained starting this should come right off.0 -
My BMR is 1397 and my TDEE is 1912 - 15% is 1626
According to the Lifting book my resting metabolic rate is 1334; workout x1.4 = 1867; non workout x1.2 = 1600 and strenuous workout is 2134
I do a total gym with additional weight lifting exercises from the book 3 times a week and the routine lasts one hour. I do heavier weights with less repetition than I did before for strength. I walk 40 to 60 minutes a day but that is more of a stroll than anything. I have fibromyalgia and bursitis in my hips and arthritis so I can't do anything quickly. Even though I am doing the heavier workout I can never really do "strenuous". At least not yet.
I have been aiming for 1750 to 1850 calories a day with 40/30/30 and trying to keep the sodium down although I have trouble with that. I force myself to eat but my digestion is sluggish. I went for blood tests and sent in an occult stool sample a few weeks ago and will see my doctor a week from Monday. He doesn't think there is a medical reason for the weight gain and puts it down to my age (59 in September).0 -
I firmly believe this method can and will work for anybody... but maybe the calculators aren't doing you justice. Would it be possible for you to get your true BMR tested? Obviously this method can't work if the numbers aren't right.0
