mass confusion

Ok I have been directed to multiple different sites.

here are a few

http://www.health-calc.com/diet/energy-expenditure-advanced

http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/

http://www.fat2fitradio.com/

the katch McArdle is 1371 and I should eat 2053 calories (15% cut) based on fat 2fit's website

but on scooby's my calorie intake should be 1405 calories (15%cut)

MFP has me at 2060 to lose a pound a week.

now I am really confused. most of the sites have given me numbers around 2000 calories. so why is this one so low? I started upping my calories several weeks ago and have not lost a single ounce yet. what am I doing wrong?

Hmmm, Scooby is usually middle of the row, not the lowest. Would you mind providing your height, weight, and exactly what you do for exercise per week?

Please detail what you do during the week, do you walk, lift weights, do the elliptical and how many times?

right now I am not doing any exercise. I do regular things around the house. I have to walk about a half a block to get my son to the bus and another half to get him off the bus. I may walk to my aunts house down the street. other than that nothing.

I like to use the Covert Baily BF% calculator on Fat2Fitradio.com and then take that number over to Scooby's website to use their "most accurate calorie calculator" (select Katch McArdle as your research model).

This is what I got from Scooby:

    BMR 1818
    TDEE 2182

Your daily cut 1854. So whenever you do go walking or anything else you pretty much need to eat those cals.

how did you get that? I am still not getting the same thing. are you using something other than the Katch McArdle? what did you do that was different than what I did?

I used this calculator, used desk job with little activity and plugged in your numbers. Actually, I just went back and did it again because your height struck me and I totally put in the wrong inches. So, after running this information

    ht 65 in
    wt 290lbs
    age 27
    female
    Desk job w/ little activity
    15% calorie def
    40/30/30 macronutrient ratios
    6 small meals

    It gave me the following:

    BMR 2090
    TDEE 2508
    Cut of 15% 2132

Ok, if the information above is all correct then cut of 2132 is your number.

Again I sure do apologize for the error earlier.

Also, the Katch-McArdle requires you to know your body fat, so I can't use that one.

Another calculator is Mifflin-St Jeor and I have a spreadsheet for that one. Your numbers with using sedentary and all items above

    "Mifflin-St Jeor
    (FOR WOMEN)" BMR 2,052
    Maintenance 2,463
    Cut (@ 15%) 2,093

Which is pretty close to the scooby calculator.

no need to apologize I am just trying to understand what I am doing wrong. because for some reason it isnt working for me. I do see one difference though. you are using http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

    I was using http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/

it requires a body fat percentage and you pick Katch McArdle

but when I used the one you did it worked fine.

I have been eating right around that amount every day and I I have not lost a pound though.

maybe a month isnt long enough. maybe I will keep trying....

Ok, so you have been eating approx 2100 cals everyday? You haven't lost or gained any weight? If your diary is open, I will take a look at it.

yea I have been eating around that much every day. sorry my diary is closed. one day I will be brave enough to open it lol. but I went to the doctor and weighed in the other day. and I apparently gained about two pounds. But I will admit the day before I had a ton of sodium. which was something I had been staying away from. So I am not absolutely sure. I have noticed my pants fit differently. loss of inches maybe?

Also during the last few months I had been doing a bit of strength training with a resistance band, wall pushups and squats. I havent done them in about two weeks though. I will start back soon.

Yes sodium will do it. It is important to take measurements. Great that you are doing some strength training, that is key!

thank you for taking time out of your day to help me. I am just about to lose y patience. I have been counting calories since december and have only made it to a total of 6 pounds gone. not even that much if you count my last weigh in. I will keep going though. I have to make it work.
