Major running victory this weekend!

I'm still12 days away from my half marathon but I ran a 12k (7.46 miles) race this weekend and KILLED it! I shocked myself big time. This is the fourth year in a row I've done this race and I beat my best time by almost six minutes. I finished it in 1hr3min20sec, an 8min30sec pace. It gives me great hope that I can finish my half marathon in under two hours.

The course this past weekend has some killer hills on it while the half marathon has a LOSS in elevation as it runs along a river. I'm so excited to see how I do.

Not only am I proud of myself, I am 100x more proud of my 11 year old son. He never runs, he just plays baseball. He finished the race all by himself in 1hr10mins! He's the same height as me, 5'6", he's a giant! I have never been so proud of being a mom as I was yesterday. My baby boy is growing up!

Thanks for letting my share!!!! :flowerforyou:

That's great! My goal for my first half is to finish under 2 hours also.

Awesome about your son too! My 6yo daughter has been biking along with me on most of my runs lately. She loves it! Occasionally she runs too.

Hell yeah, you can finish that 1/2 in under two hours. Find out if they have pacers for the your 1/2. The one I just ran on Sunday used them and it helped. It was really nice leaving the 1:55 pacer behind after 3 miles. :)

I finished in 1:50:37...2:59 ahead of my goal.
I know what you mean about your son, too. Me and my 8 year old ran the Mayor's 1 Mile race on Saturday. We didn't set any records, but I was proud of him for doing it.
