Chamois Butt'r

I'm a newbie and my first sprint tri is in 5 and a half weeks. I was reading some old threads and someone had mentioned using chamois butt'r...I'm a runner and familiar with body glide and sportslick, but have to admit I had to google the chamois butt'r. I have some questions though...if you apply this before the swim, will it still be there to do the job when you get on the bike? Would sportslick or body glide accomplish the same thing, or is the chamois butt'r worth the extra product in my growing list of needed items? I just purchased some tri shorts and tank top, and I'm planning on using a long sleeve wetsuit. Any other thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Not worth it IMO. I've never used it even on 100+ mile rides. Also anything you plan on wearing should be on before you go in the water. Makes things much more simple.0

I use Hoo Ha Ride Glide. I apply before the swim and it's still there. I also use it for my long runs. Being a larger girl, I can chafe pretty easily and I want to avoid it at all costs! Would I have issues during a sprint tri without it? I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. But I'm not going to find out.0

Hoo Ha Ride Glide??? That's awesome0

I use it on long bike rides, but for a sprint, I wouldn't bother.... Or if you do, don't worry about whether it will stay on, because it's such a short race, you won't even need it.0

Thanks for the input everyone!0

I love my chamois butter. I chafe pretty easily, though. Body glide does the job. But for me, chamois butter does it better. I use Trislide on my arms, legs, neck when wearing a wetsuit. God help the poor shmuck that goes wetsuit swimming without some form of neck lubrication. That hurts worse than a sunburn!
Have fun! Gotta love race day!0 -
Apply everything before the swim except sunscreen, which is prone to washing off. It takes two seconds to apply at the bike and no one cares if you have white streaks on your arms and neck!0

Aquaphor does the same thing. I think it's a must especially if you are prone to chaffing. Stays on during the swim without a problem.0
