C25k - week 7 -should i increase rest days in between?

I run monday, wed and saturday every week and until recently its been ok. The last couple of weeks i have noticed that its much easier on a sat and i think this is because i have had 2 rest days beforehand. On mon and wednesdays my legs are aching after a while. I warm up properly. Does amyone have any advice? Should i try 2 interval days or keep with my schedule but maybe allow a few walking breaks mon and wed and do the full 25 mins on a saturday?

Any thoughts would be appreciated? I've a 5k race scheduled in july and am determined to run it all.

I'm no expert - but it may be your body adjusting to the increase in distance. Also do you have properly fitted running shoes? I found when mine were wearing out that I started getting niggly aches and pains.
I would suggest if you do anything different then better to have 2 rest days between runs and finish the programme slightly later. Also on the week that you do your 5K I guess you would taper off - do a couple of shorter runs at most to keep your energy for the big day - so you should be able to run all the way through.
(that said, when i finished C25K I thought walking any part of a 5K was admitting defeat - then I realised walking for a few seconds sometimes helps you recover and up your pace for the next bit so it doesn't affect your time as much as you might think).
Hope some of the above helps!

    Hi

Thank you for your advice, it is an extra 3/4 mile that i added on since i started running 25 mins flat so could well be my body adjusting. I have the right running shoes and they're only 2 months old so not ready to replace yet.

I think i just got a big frustrated today, i will try spreading out to a couple of rest days inbetween until i am more used to the distance. Hopefully if that helps i can gradually increase back to 3 times a week. I should probably not be so hard on myself about having to walk a few bits, with perseverence i will get there.

    Thank you for the encouragement

I just did week 7 day 2 today and I'm with you on the aching. Although I have found if I push through it by the end I'm fine. Also, are you stretching after too?

Yes I am stretching after, I printed off some guidance from the NHS website about stretching exercises but focus on the leg area... maybe its not enough for me - I think I will have a look on the internet and see if I can get any other ideas for stretching.

    thanks...
