I'm still quite new to this whole approach, but I am learning more and more everyday. I would just like some advice. This is what I calculated using fat2fit:

Harris-Benedict Formula
There are a few different methods to calculating yourbasal metabolic rate (BMR). One of the most popular, developed in the early 1900's is called the Harris-Benedict formula. Based on this formula, your current BMR is 1249 calories.

Katch-McArdle Forumla
The numbers above are fairly accurate, however they don't take into account your lean body mass. A more accurate formula that does take your lean body mass into account is the Katch-McArdle formula. Since many of us have scales that will tell us our current body fat, this formula may yield more accurate results. Based on the information you provided, body fat percentage of 20.8%, you have a lean body mass of 75 lbs., and your BMR is 1106 calories.

Activity Level

Daily Calories

Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job)

1483
Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk)

1700
Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk)

1916
Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk)

2132
Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.)

2348

I'm looking to lose the last three pounds and I have noticed my body is starting to look different now, but I'm stuck on the calorie question. I workout about four times a week, 40minutes per workout and typically I burn about 230 calories from one session. I'm 5ft and I'm twenty.

This week I didn't really exercise, other than on monday and I didn't eat as well as I should've, but I somehow managed to lose a pound which I don't understand to be honest. My activity level I have set is sedetary, is this correct? Is 1106 my bmr and 1483 my tdee?

Thank you in advance.

I have seen the moderators recommend this site for calculations: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

I would say you are more of a moderate activity level.

I agree that you should use the scooby site and pick moderate I also think that you should pick the gain muscle, lose fat since you only have 3 pounds left to lose I would think that gaining muscle would be your best chance. Do you do any weight lifting or just cardio. If you don't I would suggest doing some building/maintaining muscle is the best way re composite your body

Yes I would say eat TDEE and start lifting weights. I wouldn't be concerned about the 3lbs but more so losing the fat and gaining some lean muscle mass for the toned look which you will see more sculpting when the fat has burned off.

Hi, thanks for your replies:) I just wanted to ask is 1483 my tdee? It's for sedetary for my goal weight, as I enter in my own exercise calories. Another thing, I don't go to a gym, I do my workouts at home or just walk, is it possible to do it at home? Sorry for the dumb question lol.

I use the fat2fit calculator, I am also 5' but 37yrs and have a bit to lose yet, I eat my moderate activity calories every day (1958) - it suits me to have an even calorie intake as I would be so hungry on non-workout days, because of this I don't add my exercise calories but if on the odd occassion I am hungry I will eat a bit more.

I workout at home - bodyweight exercises, squats, lunges, push-ups etc and doing workouts on bodyrock.tv which are also mostly bodyweight - I am getting stonger!
