motivation

So tomorrow is my surgery, and to get myself motivated I dug around in the back of my closet looking for something too small. I found an old pair of jeans that looked brand new that somehow had not been sent to goodwill. I recalled putting them on a couple of years ago and not getting them over my thighs, I'm not sure why they didn't leave the house then, but I put them on anyway just to get an idea of how far I had come and how much further I would need to go. They pulled up over my hips but were far from closing. This is my first clothing goal, a size 16, I think of a 16 as the bottom end of shopping in the fat girl section. I know the designers say 14 is fat girl clothes but as you can buy it in the traditional clothing sections I don't see it that way. My theory is, if I can get them comfortably zipped and buttoned I will have dropped down to a size I haven't seen since 1998 and I will have an excuse to go shopping as ALL my current clothes will look ridiculous on me. These jeans don't represent my total goal, just my first hanging up visual aid, so my eyes can't lie to me if I look in the mirror and don't see my progress I can always try on the pants.

Good for you!! I kept one pair of jeans in a size 8 that I got at Goodwill in the back of my closet. I took them out from time to time just to look at them along the way. I also got one pair of jeans a size smaller than I was currently wearing each step of the way. I got all my jeans from Goodwill so it was not any great expense. I went from size 32W to a size 4 so I was dropping a size about every month. The goal jeans helped me stay focused.

    Wishing you well!!

Good for you that is an awesome motivational tool. I am going to do the same thing I am currently in a size 20 and would be thrilled to be in a size 16 LOL I also believe that 14 is not a fat girl size! I will be thinking of you tomorrow and wish you luck it is a fabulous journey!

You will be in those 16's in no time and amazed when they get baggy. I just purged my wardrobe again yesterday. All the size 8 jeans are gone and some of the 6's. I saved my white size 6's, but need to go shopping. I'm scared of trying on 4's. Afraid they won't fit and I'll be disappointed. Going to the thrift stores on payday.

Set goals for yourself, even if they are small ones. It will feel terrific when you get in those size 16 jeans. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a very speedy recovery.
