Motivational Poem - Don't Quit

I was listening to Hay House Radio.com this morning and Jake Steinfeld or you may remember him from "Body by Jake" was broadcasting his first show today. He's going to be on every Monday, 9-10 a.m. PDT. His show is called "Take a Shot and Make it Happen."

He read a poem that he said was given to him by a girl when he was in eighth grade after he didn't make the football team. He said he's kept it ever since and reads it every morning and every evening before he goes to bed. He suggested carrying with you or putting it up in the bathroom where you can see it every day. I thought it was amazing that he has kept it all these years and it sounds like he lives by this poem.

Thought it might motivate some of us when we feel like giving up . . . but don't you quit!

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

I also have this poem. It is very old. When my kids were teenagers I bought this at a county nearby us. I gave it to each one of them , to remind them to never ever give up. It has always inspired me. I just recently put it on the news feed and I , too, try to live by this. Thank Godd , my kids still have theirs. So glad to see others do as well.
