Is anyone watching the HBO documentary that begins tonight? I normally like to watch that stuff, but I don't have that channel. I believe after it airs though you can watch it on their website. Tomorrow night is when they are supposed to talk about food and weight loss. I'm really curious if it's going to be the SAD and low fat, etc. Please share if you watch/ed it. I'm dying to know!

I watched the first installment last night but they didn't mention a lot about SAD. They were talking about gastric bypass and diabetes. I couldn't help but keep scoffing at the doctors when they would claim their patients were following a very strict diet but not losing weight. Well duh...they were probably following SAD and were leptin resistant.
At this point, I'm cynical about anything that doesn't prove anything to the contrary of what I believe as I have direct evidence of what works. My cholesterol is amazing right now, as is my resting heart rate, and I'm not hungry, full of energy and without aches and pains. That's all I need to know.0 -
I have watched three out of four parts. There is not a big emphasis on SAD, though at times there is mention of whole grains. There are however, alarming statistics quoted that SHOULD be eye opening. One of three children born in 2000 will get diabetes. This generation's life expectancy is expected to be shorter than our own. The amount of money that will cost us AS A NATION in healthcare. This is not an individual problem, but a national one. It gives me new found respect for Michelle Obama's health platform.
And while I have been on my own health journey for over a year now, and continue to implement changes for my family, it definitely puts a renewed interest where my kids are concerned. There are still areas I can improve for them. Living a good example helps, but more continues to be needed. There's always room for improvement!
I found parts 1 and 3 more interesting than part 2. I'm watching part 4 tonight.0 -
I purchased it on iTunes as I'm traveling and want to be able to see it. It's downloading now...at an incredibly slow pace...ack, hotel internet!0

I'm curious to watch Part 3, the installment regarding children. My son has ADHD and I've been interested in putting him on a Paleo/Primal diet for a few months. He said he's game, but theory and practice are a bit different.0
