Stage 1 for weight lifting vets?

In a few topics I've seen variations of "Stage 1 is pretty much to get you acclimated to using weights." I've been lifting weights on and off for 25 years, pretty much straight on for the last 5, and I've always regarded them as much better for getting into shape than cardio. Is Stage 1 still useful for me to do? Should I start with Stage 2 instead?

(I don't want to be "more advanced than thou" but I don't want to get bored with too easy of a routine, either.)

hey there. i've also been a lifter for a while (22 years) and i liked stage 1. the moves are fairly standard strength things like deadlifts, squats, etc but since you know the moves, you can focus more on increasing weights.

i think i shortened stage 1 as well. the first few workouts are more for people who've never done any real strength training workouts and so they have no idea where to start weight wise. since you've been working out for so long you probably have a good idea of what your 1 rep max is and can start from a percentage of that.

honestly i'm struggling with the other stages because many of the movements are strength based, but more for balance

I haven't lifted for long, but I think if you are familiar with the squats, deadlifts and the rest of them, then may be you should just do a short Stage 1 and move on.

Like you I have been lifting for many years. I started and worked through 1 and felt it was challenging. Given that you determine your own weight you can customize it. The only places I ran into trouble were on push- ups. I was already doing full body "boy" push-ups in much higher reps so I have continued to do that so I am challenged. I start 2on Wednesday and am excited.

i'm glad to know others are doing this that have lifted before. i guess i just need to find a way to make this more challenging. the only new thing for me was push ups on my toes. i've never done them because in cardio/strength classes they go so fast i can't get the reps in. but i was suprisingly able to do this at my own pace.
