Diabetic pets

does anyone have a diabetic pet?
we found out our dog is diabetic a year ago. his sugars were 864. vet said he should have been dead. with lots of adjustments to insulin. he is a healthy happy dog again. he did loose 95% of his site. we think he sees shadows some. we did have him on science diet for diabetic. which was the worst to buy. after some research we found other foods just as good. since we have another dog it got expensive buying 2 different foods. we found that the other one got the cheaper brands. so now they eat the same food.
i was just wondering this when i was giving "boomer" his shot this morning.
