How many calories are you burning in phase 3?

My heart rate monitor died so I cant know for sure, but these phase 3 workouts are so tough I wonder if I am burning more calories than with phase2. So far I've done workouts 9,10 and cardio 3. I know everyone is different but are you guys burning more calories with those vs. phase 2?
BTW can anyone recommend a good strap-free heart rate monitor (and calorie counter)?

I can only comment on Workout 10 since I failed out of #9:
5'0"
200 pds
Age 51
Burned: 199 cals (my all time high!)0 -
I scrolled back through my exercise logs and this is what I've got (I am 5'4", female, ~160lbs, age 32; I use a Timex HRM):
Phase 2 weeks 7-8
Workout 7: 265
Workout 8: 285
Cardio 2: 340
Phase 3 weeks 9-10
Workout 9: 365
Workout 10: 340
Cardio 3: 390
I'm pushing harder on phase 3, plus the workouts are crazy harder, so I'm not really surprised that the burns are higher. FWIW, I do have phase 3 workouts recorded that are only a little above the burns for phase 2. Those were the days I was almost too sore to move0 -

For this, all I've heard is that the strapless kinds don't give accurate/reliable information, so you're better off getting one with a chest strap.
If cost is an issue (I know everyone on here swears by their Polars, which can easily be $100), I got a Timex off Amazon for like $50, and I love it - totally worth the investment. It's a T5H881 Zone Trainer - gives heart rate and calories burned; not a lot of bells & whistles, but I don't need them.0 -
Thanks!
I always thought the heart rate monitors with the straps would be uncomfortable or would fall off. But I will look into it, since it seems there are no good options without the strap. sigh.0 -
My calorie burns have remained close to the same for phases 2 and 3. The only one that is slightly higher is cardio 3.0

The strap takes getting used to, but honestly it's no worse than wearing a bra (which I manage to do every day without too much discomfort, lol). The straps are typically fairly elastic, so as long as it's (comfortably) snug to begin with, I never feel like it's going to slip or fall off, and I've worn it for hiking, biking, volleyball, and of course Jillian Michaels workouts. In my opinion, it's worth the investment to have a better idea of your calorie burns, since the MFP estimates are often way off.0
