Should I follow my head or heart?

Are red herrings rare or something?
Do they not have this expression where you are? It means a misleading, or distracting issue/clue. There's no such fish. Kipper cured to look red are sometimes mistaken for red herrings.0 -

Is that where that saying originates from? I always wondered  To the OP, do the audition, see if you get offered the job or not, then make the call. No point in worrying about a decision you may not have to make. That said, like pretty much everyone else here, I strongly advocate that you pursue your career ahead of a crush. If he's meant to be in your life, he'll turn up again, and showbusiness is, as you say, a very small world. It's also a world in which some professional opportunities only come up once, so you have to seize them when they're offered.0 -

Actually, no. There are variations of the story, but according to the most common version, the pungent red herring would be dragged along a trail until a puppy learned to follow the scent. Later, when the dog was being trained to follow the faint odour of a fox or a badger, the trainer would drag a red herring (whose strong scent confuses the animal) perpendicular to the animal's trail to confuse the dog. The dog would eventually learn to follow the original animal scent rather than the stronger herring scent.0
