I Need A Stern Talking-To

Yesterday morning was Week 6, Day 1.
I got to the 5 minute run and was totally discouraged when the App told me I was halfway through the five minutes because I thought I was almost done. Just then, a truck nearly ran me and the dog over. I got pissed off, frustrated, and headed home.
I went at it again this morning. When the app told me I was halfway through the five minute run, I got frustrated again. I walked the rest of the way, so that the app would log this workout as completed.
I don't know what is going on with me! Last week I ran for 20 minutes straight, no problem. It felt great. This week, I can't seem to get in the groove. I think part of the problem is that the way the intervals are broken up, the entire five minute run is uphill, then I walk on the flat/downhill, and then I know the last five minutes of the last run are going to be on the uphill too.
I'm skipping ahead to Week 6 Day 2, even though I told myself I'd repeat a day until I could do the whole thing without walking. I'm hoping two 10 minute intervals will be better for me. I also plan to run my route in the opposite direction, so I get the uphill out of the way early. AND, I'm going to turn off that damn "halfway there" notification.
I'm super disappointed with myself for hitting a wall right here. I seriously need someone to chew me out! Please!

Don't give up, it is super hard to get started again. I took 10 days off and am struggling already to get back into it.
I totally think changing your route is a good idea. also, have you tried listening to an audio book, i find music doesn't work for me as i start counting out songs and as most are around 3 minutes time feels so long. With a book I can kind of get lost in it and time goes faster.0 -
Don't lose hope. If you think you can skip to day 2, go for it-- but don't lose motivation if you can't finish it. The change of scenery may help. I have to say (I'll be doing week 6 day 2 today)-- last week I had posted something about losing steam and not feeling it anymore, and one of my friends had responded that it's alright to take time off. That's when I realized... I don't WANT to take time off, because time off will allow for me to slip up... and I'm tired of slipping up. You just have to find what works for you. I like to change routes when I run too, even if it's just by a little bit.
You can do this.......................0 -
Don't get discouraged!! Everyone has good days and bad days, even with running. I think changing your route up would be a good place to start (can you do the reverse of what you are currently doing??). I know that made all the difference in the world for me!
Good luck and know that you CAN do this!!0 -
You all are fantastic. I noticed I'm super sore today, which hasn't happened even after my 20 minute run. Either TOM related, or maybe I failed to pace myself and that's why I tired so quickly.
Rest day from running tomorrow, then Saturday I'll get up early and go hard!0
