Bloating Normal?

I'm three weeks in to eating 2,000 calories a day instead of 1,200 (which is how I lost 22 pounds in four months before stalling out). I've only gained a pound or so in that time and my body fat hasn't really changed according to my scale, but I was just getting changed for practice and noticed my stomach and thighs look huge...and not in a good, muscley way! No difference in the way my clothes fit, so far as I can tell.

I started NROWL this week and have upped my protein - including a daily whey protein shake. I feel fine otherwise, lots of energy, etc.

Just bloating? Water retention (wait, those are the same thing, right?) Does it go away? I'm in my sister's wedding in two weeks and although I don't want to show up the bride, I'd rather not feel like a two-ton heifer. :)

I'm sure it is just water from the lifting!

It will be gone soon, don't worry. :)

Possibly also all the dairy, which I've been eating more of to get enough protein...going to cut down on that for a few days, see if it helps. Going to be a beautiful weekend here in VT, I guess I'll just have to grill lots of meat to hit my macros! ;)

Are you taking any type of fiber supplement? That can cause severe bloating...

I'm not - although I am always over my fiber requirements each day!

Not sure how long you have been doing this, but if you have for over 6wks then I sure do agree with what you are thinking...start cutting back on dairy to see if that is it....sometimes people have gluten sensitivity...Lord let me never develop any of those...I love dairy and gluten too much...lol.

Oh, you ain't kidding - gluten and lactose allergies could possibly be the end of me! But I think I'm okay. It's been just three weeks for me. I'm still going to try for the macros, and I won't cut out dairy completely, just cut down a little. It was quite a lot more than I was used to! Also, will whey protein powder cause bloating? I've been drinking shakes daily for the last two or so weeks.

I would say, it could be possible. You may want to remove things one at a time to see which it could be. Or stop a group of items and wait, then add stuff back in one at a time.

I've always known that lots of dairy kind of makes me feel ooky - I don't get any kind of cramping or other signs, but just sort of...well, bloated and gross. So that's definitely my suspicion. Today I'm going to just have the slice of cheddar on my sandwich and maybe a small greek yogurt later (instead of milk, and cheese, and yogurt, and....). Thanks for the help!
