Kathmandu Adventure Races

I've been interested in these for a while, and its just a matter of working up to the fitness level to do one of these.

Wanted to know if anyones ever heard of these events? And who would be interested in doing one late in the year, giving us a good 5 months or so to train up to it. Would also be a really good fitness goal, and an amazing experience no doubt!

I'll copy a bit of info about what the usualy event entails;

"The overall objective of the Kathmandu Adventure Series is for you and your teammate to have fun, and complete the designated course (together, no relays) in the minimum amount of time possible, by visiting each of the checkpoints in turn by foot, bike or kayak.

The course itself is kept secret until the day of the race, only to be revealed at registration, when you will be issued with your maps and race instructions.

Sometimes the maps will be pre-marked, other times you will need to copy the checkpoints off a master map. The race instructions will tell you in what order to collect the checkpoints and what equipment you can use.

Either way it's worth turning up early to give your team plenty of time for planning."

A typical course might involve:

Leg 1: 2km trail run
Leg 2: 10km MTB
Leg 3: 1km kayak
Leg 4: 5km MTB
Leg 5: 5km trail run
Leg 6: 7km MTB
Leg 7: Finishing with a 2km kayak.
