Healthy, affordable neighborhoods

I have been living in Adams Morgan for the past three years. I love it. It is incredibly walkable and has great access to good, healthy food and lovely green spaces.
I have just been informed that my landlord sold the house I am living in. I need to move by the end of August.
I am now looking for a new place for me and my dog to live. I have been spoiled on the $900/month rent. So I realize staying in AdMo will be difficult at that price. I am now looking into what other, more affordable, healthy neighborhoods/communities are out there.
I really want something that is walkable. I want a choice of groceries, access to green spaces, great public transportation, etc. .
Any ideas/suggestions?
BTW, I don’t have a car, and I am looking to stay under $1,300–$1,400/month with utilities.
Thanks all…

would you consider living outside of DC in Rosslyn or Courthouse?0

Totally,
but the problem is that the rent tends to be very expensive there. I would love to be in NOVA, but I find that the going rate on rentals is higher per square footage there.0
