My husband just brought home 2 emu eggs. He was working with a guy who raises emus. OMG! I'm more than a little intimidated. They look like small footballs. They look like large avocados. They look like dinosaur eggs! Has anyone ever tried them?

Off to google....

    Research them.

I had a friend who offered me some turkey eggs - he had the idea that maybe he could commercially sell them. I quickly googled them for nutritional data, and found out they were twice the calories - and FOUR times the cholesterol. Which is probably why no one sells them commercially.

Emu eggs might be interesting for the occasional treat - but I'll bet they're too rich for regular ingestion.

So, what happened to the "emu egg" experiment?

What'd you end up doing with them? And, how did they taste?
Would you eat emu eggs again?

Ok. My husband scrambled one of the emu eggs today. It tasted fine, pretty much like chicken eggs. (I don't really like my husband's scrambled eggs, so I didn't LOVE it. Next one I'll cook.) 1 egg fed all 4 of us. I had read they equal 8-10 chicken eggs, so that's true.

I would not buy them, they're really expensive. Considering it was free, I would eat them again.

WHOA! One Emu EGG fed FOUR people!!!! Wow! No wonder Grok likes Eggs! LOL

Thanks for the updates.... Glad the "taste test" came out o.k. too!
