Eat more to weigh less

I have slowed on my weight loss and am not even getting close to my recommended calorie intake. I notice that I am not as hungry as I use to be before starting MFP. I often try to fill my plate with the portion sizes but it looks like too much food. Should I eat more throughout the day to acheive my caloie intake goal and will me not eating enough calories affect my weight loss goals? Please HELP!!!
