I just got my peak week schedule. How do you possibly drink 2 gallons of water/day?

what? drink when thirsty. I seriously doubt you need that much. Unless you are running a marathon. That will deplete all of your electrolytes in one day.

I'ts fairly common to water load at the beginning of your peak weak schedule.

I would just carry a gallon jug with you and just drink drink drink. You're going to feel like you're going to explode, but it's necessary to flush all the sodium out of your system. :)

btw, 1.5 gallons = 6 liters, which has been proven enough to kill you

    http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=strange-but-true-drinking-too-much-water-can-kill

" cases of hyponatremia can lead to water intoxication, an illness whose symptoms include headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, frequent urination and mental disorientation."

Be wary of trainers who exaggerate, have no idea what your blood levels are at, and are not nutritionists. Anyway, it's carbs and sugars that make you hold water. The simplest way to get rid of sodium is to add potassium to your diet. naturally dehydrate by not drinking about 8 to 4 hours before your comp. Then sip as necessary.

It is really much easier than you think! I carry around a gallon at a time and take several chugs at a time and make sure I drink at least 16 ounces with every meal which is six times a day!

water load before competition: one and half gallons to two gallons, one and a half, two gallons, three quarters of a gallon, then sip on competition day, in that order. Have access to a bathroom, you pee a lot, so you can't overdose on water. Your body is mostly water, duh!!!

I would research water intake, referring to the above post, when you live in a jungle like I did, a gallon to two gallons is normal, and if you exercise like crazy, it's the best thing for you, but who am IIII? I research a lot.

I've got two more days of water loading (I compete Saturday), so I feel your pain. It can be done though. Exactly as others have said, I carry around a gallon jug with me all day and just drink from it constantly. Make sure you have constant access to a bathroom. I got stuck in traffic for 1 1/2 hours on Friday and nearly had to run to the side of the road! People are giving me funny looks at work carrying water with me everywhere, but I'm sure it won't be half as bad as when I show up with my first coat of competition tan on Thursday, LOL!
