Artificial sweeteners

Just wondering if anyone hesitates when using artificial sweeteners. I've read lots of discussions about how some doctors see them as ok until you get down to a manageable weight. I was drinking Powerade zero yesterday after a strenuous workout and loved it.
I like using equal or Splenda. I tried trivia and stevia, didn't like them at all.
What do you all think? I'm on stage one of my diet for metabolism miracle. I feel a lot better since starting. But I am hesitant about the artificial sweeteners.

P.s. I treat myself to a diet vanilla coke. LOVE IT. And on weekends will put a splash of rum.

Just to let you know. I drink more than 8 glasses of water a day. Probably like a gallon.

I personally can't use them as my system is very sensitive to them. Even chewing gum several days in a row causes me to have anxiety attacks. I don't think it agrees with my nervous system or something. I can do Stevia (try different brands because some are good but some are awful!) I can't do any of the artificial ones. Because of how I feel when I eat them they make me nervous and my kids aren't allowed to have them either.

Yeah, I don't use artificial sweeteners. But, I'm trying to eat a minimal amount of processed "food." Plus, I don't like the taste. If I'm going to break down and have something with sugar in it...I just have something with sugar in it.

I highly recommend xylitol. It's the best sweetener there is and naturally occurring, favored by Dr. Atkins himself because it has almost no impact on blood sugar. In my opinion, it has the "cleanest" sweetness as well, and with no aftertaste. When I make a peanut butter pie (secretly low carb) for my family, I use xylitol and a little splenda and they have NO IDEA! Seriously, it's awesome.

It's also excellent for oral health and your dentist will notice on your next checkup that you're using it. It comes in granulated form for baking, gum, mints, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc.

I've cut way down on my splenda use and right now am occasionally using Truvia. I use maybe 4-6 packets a week total, depending on whether I am drinking my iced tea or not. I have never drank much soda and never drank diet (never liked the taste) so thankfully that's not something I have to give up/deal with :)

I use a liquid sweetener called ez sweetz it is basically splenda without the fillers. It seems to not have the aftertaste the splenda has from all the fillers in the splenda. 0 Carbs...so I use in my coffee, and shakes. I try not to make homemade desserts too often as I can over indulge . But every once in a while I will make low carb cake or muffins, or a cheese cake. But not too often. I use the liquid drops for my coffee mostly.
