I joined this group a couple of weeks ago, and so far it is great, but I am still a little confused about TDEE, etc.
I do Tracy Anderson Method Continuity 6 days a week, 30 minutes and I have a decent little walk to and from the train each day (8-10 mins each way) to a desk job where I am mostly sedentary. So ,am I in the light activity, or the moderate? or even sedentary?
I started MFP last Septeber and followed the automatic guidelines at 1200 cals/day. I quickly lost 17 lbs, then gained back a few, now I have been at the same weight for about 4 months. I found this group after doing a lot of research on plateaus, and now realize that a great deal of damage has been done. WEEP!
I am not at 1700 cals per day, and feeling a lot better, but not seeing any difference other than the fact that starvation bloat has all but disappeared.
All input appreciated!
p.s. My diary is open, and I realize that I have been having a lot of cocktails lately--between work and everyone's birthday it has been a tough month or two...

Id recommend using Moderate activity level for sure. You do a lot in a given week!0

If you're doing 30 min workouts 6 times a week, that's 3 hours, plus I assume you walk 20 mins 5 days a week, which is another 100 minutes... so you're in the moderately active zone of 3-5 hours/week of probably moderate exercise.
Can I suggest, though, that you change up your workouts? Unless there are multiple workouts in the Tracy Anderson thing... I don't really know it. But if you're doing the exact same workout 6 days a week it may not be as effective as doing different things on different days.
So if you calculate TDEE using moderate 3-5 hr exercise, what does your 15% cut come out to?0 -
welcome to the group :flowerforyou:
Better late than never, right?
As for your activity, definitely not sedentary.
I'd say between light and moderate. If I had to choose, I'd say moderate

Thanks Everyone!
Tracy Anderson workouts change every 10 days, so by the time my muscles have adjusted, it's time to switch up the workout already--that is one of the main reasons I have stuck with it for so long and I am now on Day 160 (!)
@mrsbigmack- With moderate chosen, my 15% cut comes out to 2123-- with light it is 1883
these numbers astonish as I was so low for so long! Yet eating back cals, but still! no wonder I was waking up with a mild headache every day....0 -

I think you should spend 4 weeks eating at least 1900 calories per day... you need more calories to see the weight start to come off.
To use my own stats as an example... I'm eating an average of 2100 calories/day and I've lost 8.4 lbs in the last 5 weeks. What are your stats (height, weight, age) if you don't mind?0 -

So then FWIW, I'd say go with 1900 daily and see what happens...
My activity is only a little more than yours (about 6.5 hrs weekly in total) and our stats are not too far off - 5'7", 36, 171 lbs.0 -

and yet, I feel like you are miles ahead... In fact, where I want to be!
Thanks so much for feedback!
I understand I should stick with this for a few weeks/2 months, and then what?0
