I'm SCARED!!

Ok, I've read the book...read the reviews...read the posts and I'm scared. I KNOW I need to try something different because 1200 calories and Cardio just aren't cutting it anymore!!
Should I hire a PT to walk me through the weight room? Or just suck it up and be brave? Also, I'm terrified of gaining an ounce by upping my calories, even though it makes perfect sense.
Can someone just tell me it will be OK and to just do it already?!?!:embarassed:

It'll be okay! Do it already!
Actually if this is your first time heading into the weight room, it'll probably do you a world of good to ask for help. When I first started lifting weights I read every single label on the machine before I used it. I didn't even care what I looked like, I didn't want to hurt myself! Now that I'm doing free weights I make sure to have someone check my form every so often, you know, "Hey, are my knees going out past my toes?"
Plus: nobody is looking at you. They are too busy making muscles at themselves in the mirror. Just act like a safe tourist and pretend you know what you're doing. it'll be fun!0 -

THIS! Just work the plan -- you WILL BE FINE!0 -

If you can afford a few sessions with a trainer, it helps ease you in faster. I did that because I was scerred, too. But, I also found that people were pretty receptive in helping me with how to use things. In fact, you may get unwanted advice (smile and nod). Everyone feels the same way.0 -
If you can afford a PT session, it might be worthwhile. Someone else posted that they took the book in with them and had the pt show them specifically those exercises, which I think is a great idea.0

Oh, and in regards to being afraid of gaining an ounce...if you can avoid the scale for the first couple of weeks, do it! It can really mess with your mind. Take measurements and pictures now. I then did a recheck of the measurements halfway through Stage 1 and was quite pleased with the change in numbers. The scale, however, didn't really change.0

I've already hidden the scale from myself Besides, I would rather look good in a bathing suit, or at least comfortable than give a rip what I weigh...thanks for all of your advice! I think I'm definitely going to hire a PT to get me started. I will be checking in again soon!0

I'm sure anyone in the weight room would feel super special if you asked them how to use a piece of equipment..
But if you dont have a friend you can ask who knows, ask the staff first if there is someone who can show you.. you might not HAVE to hire a PT.. sometimes the gym staff can do orientations to machines and quipment..0 -
So, I FINALLY found the right gym fit after visiting all four in my area...super excited to be starting this week! I have printed out my spreadsheets, scheduled a training session and all that's left is to do just DO IT!! So, tomorrow is D-Day Super excited!0

Yes, hire PT. I did to show me correct form with squats (not smith machine, use squat rack) and deadlifts.
Instead of weighing yourself take measurements. I started NROL4W in February. I lost 41/2 inches of my waist in April! Now my waist is a 27. My core is so much stronger also. Currently in the middle of Stage 5.
EAT EAT and EAT. If you don't eat enough you will not have energy to get through those workouts.
Don't be embarrassed. My 16 year old daughter does this with me. Friday she was looking for the 25 pound dumbells, some guy was using them. You should have seen how big his eyes got when she lifted these up and walked away! HA!0 -
