Entry fees for marathons? How much is too much?

Hi
I was interested in doing the solar eclipse marathon in november this year in Port Douglas but I am very reluctant to part with the $310 entry fee just for the half marathon.
Having never done one before is this a standard price across the board? It seems very steep to me.
Doing my first 5K in the morning, very excited and that was only $15 includes an after race breakfast.

$310! omg are you serious! that's quite expensive.
I'm doing the run melbourne half marathon in July and the early bird entry was only $80 (otherwise it's $100)
Ok I had a look at their website.
The reason it's so expensive is because of the following:
Entry to The Solar Eclipse Marathon requires purchasing the holiday package and a race package.
So you are required to buy a holiday package, that's why it's so expensive.
It would be totally awesome to do, but the fact that you have to buy a holiday package, yeah forget it0
