Interesting that my ND wanted to check my Aldosterone levels -- I had never heard of it until he mentioned it. Aldosterone controls sodium and potassium levels in your body. He suspected that mine were low might be root cause of my vertigo, ears ringing and possibly even muscle soreness that I live with every day.
Went in this morning and sure enough my aldosterone levels are "in the tank" according to my ND. There's some sort of compounded medicine that he gets from a special pharmacy in Alabama -- and they are ordering it for me now. If Aldosterone gets rid of my vertigo it will be UNBELIEVABLE -- I've had ringing ears and vertigo for over 25 years!
Also, my T3 levels got a little low, so he's increasing my Armour. The lower T3 could account for some other hypo symptoms I've had lately.
Finally - he took some blood to test my DHEA - I've been taking 7-Keto which is a mild form of DHEA. He thinks it might be causing my blood pressure to go up a little -- if any of you are self-supplementing with DHEA or 7-Keto and having symptoms like lightheadness or increased blood pressure - best to stop it and see if those symptoms go away.
We think supplements are over-the-counter and we can just take them, but some of them can be dangerous if you don't need it.
Also, on Vitamin D - I am currently taking 70,000 iu per week. He wants me to go to 50,000 per week as a maintenance dose and we'll check it in 6 months. If you are supplementing Vitamin D, make sure it is D3. Prescription strength D2 has some toxicity that isn't good for us.

That's wonderful! Sure hope it cures the ear problems. Learning new things all the time!
I tried raspberry keto last week, and also felt that it was making me feel weird. I quit it yesterday & felt SO MUCH better!
Wow, that's a lot of vitamin D!

I definitely echo... thank you for sharing! I always find your posts helpful. Your doctor seems to be on his toes! I have labs in a couple weeks but I'm afraid that the side effects from starting the Metformin at the beginning of the month is going to screw those up...0

Great news on the Aldersterone I am going to request that test just to see where I am at. My muscles are always really sore especially after a workout.
On the Armour I was at 3 and now I am at 4, 5, and 6 day alternating dosages. Being able to increases a few days a week has really helped my hypo symptoms
Don't you just love labs...I like to go through them it tells us so much and gives us the information to correct what is happening in our bodies0 -

Wow - that is a high dose of Armour!! Your thyroid must have been toasted!! I've eliminated other causes of muscle soreness -- initially, I thought it was from the statins that I took for years for high cholesterol - but I stopped taking those in January, and the muscle pains remained. Then I thought maybe not drinking enough - upped my fluids - no difference. Then I tried working out in the morning instead of evening - same thing. So, I am hoping the aldosterone is the ticket. I'm spending a fortune on deep tissue massages so that I can run and ride my bike!0
