I starred new rules of lifting for women about 3 weeks ago, and have been keeping to the books schedule of lifting 3 days a week for about 30-45 minutes. Im doing c25k on alternating days. At first it seemed like the weight lifting was really helping with my runs, but I just failed the FOURTH day of week 8. I've tried running pavement, pushing a jogging stroller, and running trails, and can't even come close to the 28 minute mark. It almost seems like im going backward and seem to crap out at 12 or 14 minutes. If I walk a few minutes, I can run some more, but then I just end up doing intervals. I don't get cramps, but my heart rate does go up to about 170 and my lungs start complaining. Im drinking tons of water, eat lots of protein and plenty of calories. Could it be the humidity here in Florida? Should I take days off after lifting and just take longer to finish c25k? Im so depressed about this. I ha e another 5k coming up next month, and im worried about my progress tanking.
Another thought...my speed seems to be naturally increasing. Should I try to run as slow as possible to see if I can go longer? I keep trying to jog slow, but catch myself speeding up! Maybe im using too much energy on speed instead of building endurance.
Thanks for any input. You guys always inspire me. :-)

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling so frustrated but i really
think that you've answered your own question. Perhaps try
going as slow as you can, build up your time, then work on
the speed.
If it doesn't work after a couple of times, perhaps try having
a rest day before your next run?
Good luck
