Shaky Feeling

Hey everybody, I'm new to this group, so a little about me:
My name is Ali, I'm 29, and I'm in Jacksonville, FL. I've got two pups, & one incredible husband.
SW: 383
CW: 345
GW (for now): 180
What I track: cals, protein, and carbs (baby steps - working my way up to sodium, lol)
Cal Goal: 1900 (set to sedentary - desk job - 2 lbs/week)
Protein Goal: 143
Carb Goal: 190
I usually meet or am slightly under all three. However............ today, I decided to start striving for 125 carbs or less. I have PCOS, so low-carb works for me I know, but I didn't want TOO drastic of a change to start off with. Plus, I pre-cook all my dinners for the week on Sundays, so that's already logged. I caved this morning for breakfast :grumble: (see my diary), but yesterday is a typical weekday breakfast for me, which I will get back to tomorrow.
However, today I've eaten everything through my afternoon snack and it's totaled 80 carbs. Yesterday, and Thurs & Friday of last week, I'd had anywhere from 119-147 by this time of day.
I'm shaky today (mostly in my hands). Could this be from my body trying to adjust to the lower carbs?
Thanks for the input,
Ali

Is the shakiness accompanied by other symptoms? Lightheaded? Feeling cold? Dizzy? When I first went low carb I had a bout with hypoglycemia, but I fixed that with a couple very small swigs of sprite or a small piece of hard candy. There is a transition time (2-4 weeks for some) where your body shifts it's primary energy source from carbs to fats. But I think your intake of carbs would have to lower than what you're doing to truly be in ketosis. I was reading in one book that depending on how "addicted" you are to these refined carbs, your body could just be trying to get a fix. Now, I'm sure I sound crazy, but you're talking to a carb addict!
Congrats on your weight loss so far and good luck getting to your goal. My doctor convinced me to try low carb and I love it. But I went from well over 300 grams of carbs a day to 20 grams without huge problems, but everyone's experience is different.0 -
Nope, no other symptoms, thank goodness. I was kinda thinking that it could just be the adjusting to the lower amount, that's a good thought.
Thanks, and congrats to you too!0 -
How much water are you drinking?
Are you getting enough sleep?
How many calories have you eaten?
What are you eating that is 80-125 carbs? Are they at least low glycemic foods?
100g of carbs is pretty normal. I don't think you're going to have a weird reaction to eating that many carbs - unless it's 100 carbs worth of non-diet soda or something, then you could get the shakes from crazy high sugar.0
