Hi all: My name is Betty. I'm 57 and just last month had a hysterectomy after having very heavy bleeding (DUB) for about 10 years. I'm using this event to start a new chapter for myself. I think the surgery was the best thing that could have happened for me. It's great to no longer have the worry of my previous symptoms. Easier to exercise for sure!!. I have about 110 lbs to lose to get down to a 'normal' weight. I'm 5 ft 5 in.
I'm hoping that using this MFP tool and joining this group will motivate me to keep on going, no matter what it takes. Praying for patience with myself.
Good luck to all!

Good for you for having the surgery and for starting this new chapter in your life.
Here's to your good health from now on :drinker:0 -
Dear Betty, I'm so glad to hear your surgery was the start of something good in your life. You've got the right mindset for this. Patience is the Key! Of course, we'd all like to be slim tomorrow. But that isn't realistic, so instead the one-step-at-a-time strategy will be useful in making the right choices day in and day out 'til the "new You" is fully developed. And for those days when things don't go as you'd hoped, your mfp colleagues will be here to cheer you on. The year ahead is going to be an exciting one for you.
Keep us informed about your journey, please. :flowerforyou:0 -
Welcome to the goup! I'm so glad you had the surgery! Too many women suffer with that for years because they either don't know it can be fixed or they're afraid of surgery. It's worth the surgery!!!
Best of luck on your weight loss! I know this site has been great for me.0 -
Hello Betty.
I have the surgery in 98' best thing I ever had done!
I just joined this site last week. I was doing WW online, but honestly, I like seeing the real picture of my foods and not putting a point to each food I eat. I followed Body for Life (BFL) in 2003 and I even teach the BFL methods and I am following it now using MFP and I love it!
I am 53 and I have gained 20lbs over a three year span. I can't just work it off anymore, I am having to be so strict with my foods. Ugh! But, I gotta do this!
Good luck to you Betty.0
