Am I doing this right?

My BMR is 1930 calories, my TDEE is 2990 at 3-5 hrs/week moderate intensity, and my TDEE-20% is 2392. Today at the gym I burn 1230 calories (via my garmin HR monitor). Does this mean I need to have taken in a total of ~3100 calories? I just want to make sure I understand what to do on heavy workout days such as today. Additionally if each of my workouts are buring 800-1200 calories, is this considered moderate or should I be on vigorous intensity? I strive to keep my HR above 187 doing HIIT, and above 160 during lifting. But I only work out 5 days a week.

To recap 2 questions:

1) Is my calculation correct on what I need to eat?

2) Should I be considered moderate or vigorous intensity?

If you are netting under BMR, then you will need to eat back enough calories to bring you above your BMR. If you are working out more than 6 hours per week, you would be considered vigorous.

If you are frequently netting under your BMR then you should go up to the next activity level up so I would say vigorous.
  • Thanks Heidi & Mom! Also, were my calculations correct? (if you don't mind....:) )
