Hello,

Today is my first day on Medifast. I am excited to start this new program. I lost over 65 pounds on my own by eating less and exercising. The reason why i joined Medifast is I hit my plateau and I have not lost weight for the last 6 months. I heard this program is great to lose weight, I hope I can lose my last 28 pounds with Medifast. I just ate my first breakfest scrambled eggs. I hope I can stick to the plan. I do need some help. I exercise 5 times a week and out of the week I run 3 times a week for at least 4 miles per run. I do strength trainging 2 times a week. They told me I have to cut down on my exercise for the next 3 weeks until I start dropping pounds. I love to exercise everyday and I need help to adjust to this. Any suggestions? Thank You.

I'm pretty sure the reason they don't want you doing a lot of exercise is that the Medifast plan, used for weight loss, is only about 1000 calories a day. That's a very, very small amount and probably not enough to sustain you if you like working out. I've heard you can compensate for this by adding a lot more protein to the diet. Personally I have no experience with exercise so can't give you any first hand advice.

I struggle with this as well. I exercised and did medifast at the same time, and I think I got sick doing it. You should not work out as hard as you are with medifast. When I was exercising, the 4 and 2 plan was more realistic. I ate egg white protein in a salad at lunch and had more greens with protein for dinner (usually fish). If your goal is to break your plateau, you should try out the plan for a week and let your body adjust, and then add exercise in. I'm about to add more exercise into my day, and I plan on adding about 200 calories of extra protein, which is what my health coach recommended.
