burned calories = heart rate?

Hi, I just got an HRM, and I was wondering how you get the amount of calories burned from your heart rate. My HRM does give me a calorie counter for exercising, so I'm basically just guessing. Any thoughts?

    it does give you the calories burned? Use that! IF not, your heart rate is to make sure that you aren't over doing it. I'm not sure if that is a formula to get calories burned from heart rate.. therer has to be.. somwhere on the net.
