Bench Press!

Hi, everyone!

Ok, so I'm in the Push month where we're supposed to go heavier and I have 10kg/ 22lbs dumbells for leg and back exercises which I thought were suitable for the bench press exercise (Push Circuit 3). Well, I got on my back on the floor and couldn't move the weights one inch! I fumbled with them for about 5 minutes before I could lift them up and do the exercise! And then when I had to put them down and pick them up again for the "extreme" part, I gave up! I just couldn't do it!
I don't know if I explain it well enough, I could do the actual exercise but I could not lift the weights to get in the starting position.

Chalene says we sould leverage the weights on our elbows and she makes it look so easy! Does anyone else have/ had this problem? What did you do?

I would wonder if the weights are to heavy for your shoulders to be able to move them into the starting position. See if going down helps you lift them straight up.
(i know, that's counter to the go heavy or go home)

Maybe you're gripping the weight too hard and using too much forearm and not enough upper arm? I find myself doing this sometimes and it makes the weights seem heavier than they are-
