I ran in a 5k charity fundraiser for Cancer Research UK a couple of Saturdays ago. It was a lot of fun and I surprised myself by finishing in 29:06!

I'm now running longer distances in order to run in a 10k in August. :)

I'm doing something else... that is, I'm just winging it. I've been gradually upping my long runs. I'm currently running 8km at a go, twice a week. Then, once a week, I try to replicate my 5k time (this is surprisingly hard to do!). Finally, once a week, I do speed intervals - alternating one-minute bursts of speed with very slow running - for 30 minutes.

I am capable of running 10k, now. I can tell by the way I've felt at 8k - by then, I really can keep going at a slow pace. However it took me 61 minutes to do 8k, so it would be about 1:15 for 10.... I checked last year's results for the event and I'm looking at being one of the last people to finish! I hope that by that time, I'll be able to pull off 10k in an hour. I will run it, regardless. I'll run it and I'll finish it!

that's the spirit! best of luck on the 10K...I bet you'll surprise yourself at the race & nail it:) Funny, I only just finished W5 and I'm already thinking about what I should do next...even toying with the idea of a 10K race too!

I ran 10k on Saturday, just to see if I could do it. I could, but it was hard and I didn't feel very good the last two k. It took me 1 hour 20 minutes.

I will stick to running 8k for the next couple of weeks and gradually increase it after that.
