Ran out of steam... and it's my own fault!

Since discovering the joys of C25K I've been getting a bit gung-ho, adding in an extra day here and there then skipping up to the next level a day or two early.

It was all going so well until I decided to do Week 3 Day 2 today. I'd done Week 3 Day 1 yesterday and felt in such a good mood (and it wasn't raining outside). But, oh my God! I totally ran out of steam.

I felt a little tired before I set off so I had a banana, but I just didn't expect to feel like I couldn't put one foot in front of the other. I wasn't any more out of breath than usual, my legs were sore, but there again they always are. I do a fair amount of hiking and the wall I hit today was more like the feeling I get after a six hour hike up 3,000ft. I made it through the session, but only just. And the final jog was more of a walking-pace shuffle.

Is my body rebelling? I soooooo want to get fit but maybe I should just FOLLOW THE PROGRAMME! ;)

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Depends on what you were doing- how active you were- before the program. I know I wasn't very active. I did one of my days Friday morning, walked the dog- quickly- a little over 2 miles Saturday night, then tried to do the next day of the program Sunday morning- not a happy result!! The program is designed to work in a certain order- if you were active or a runner previously- then you may be able to do extra and skip ahead. Otherwise, I would follow the program. Right now, I am not even exercising in between my days- letting myself recover. Once get more used to the program and feel a little stronger, I will add days of other activities. Take your time. You didn't get "unhealthy" overnight- you won't get "healthy" overnight either!

Very true! I'm not starting completely from scratch as I go hiking at least once a week (lots of big climbs and anything from two to six hours). But I'm not as fit as I should be at my age. Main reason I started C25K is so I can get up mountains faster! (and keep up with my superfit boyfriend)
