Can you get nausea from low blood sugar? i've been feeling pukey all day-- i'm at 35% carb, 40% protein, 25% fat for a PCOS diet.

When I have low blood sugar, it's usually accompanied by more than just nausea... it includes lightheadedness, blurred vision, shallow breathing. It's also more of an event that happens quickly and can usually be resolved within minutes. At 35% carbs, I don't know if you can attribute that to low blood sugar unless you're going long time intervals between meals or the carbs you are eating are simple sugars or really starchy foods. I'm not a doctor though... just personal experience.
Do you have any food allergies? Hope you start feeling better! (I'm PCOS too!)0 -
thanks for the info. I was also wondering if it was simply overwhelming hunger today. I skipped my late-night snack last night b/c i was full, so when i woke up, i was hungry and nauseous. it was hard to eat breakfast b/c i really wanted to eat it, but was wary of keeping it down.
I just ate some yogurt and i'm feeling less pukey... i'm on metformin, so my blood sugar is "tempermental" at best.

Thank you! And I'm also taking Metformin for my PCOS. I had one horrible hypoglycemic episode when I first started taking it. I was on an airplane... I think I panicked the stewardest! A couple swigs of Sprite and I was ok again. Have you tried eating lower than 35% carbs before? I try to keep my net carb intake between 30-40 grams per day (total carbs - fiber - sugar alcohols = net carbs). It's hard to adjust to for the first week or two, but I've noticed a HUGE difference. And when I was starting Metformin, I found out I couldn't have too many carbs anyway or else I would be running to the bathroom... :ohwell:0
