Diagnosed and hungry more!

Hello

I was diagnosed with hypo just over 3 weeks ago. The doc has started me off on 50 levothyroxine. I am not sure what is happening but my weight loss had stalled for over a month but now for the past 3 weeks since taking the meds I have lost between 1.5 and 2 lbs. The problem is I am feeling hungrier throughout the day. I have been eating 1600 cals for around 2-3 months so nothing has changed there. Could the medication really have speeded my metabolism up by quite a lot so I need more food now? It's such a low dose I wouldn't have thought there would be a drastic difference. I am on my last 6 pounds of weight loss now. Should I just increase my calories by 100 per day and see how it goes.

I will be having a follow up blood test on Tuesday so hopefully the doctor can see how things are going after.

    Hmm that is interesting.
I have read where people have become increasingly hungry while regulating their thyroid.
Maybe your body is trying to tell you that you need to increase your calories.
Try uping it by a little and see if that helps.

I am on 112mcg of the same meds and haven't had increased appetite, but I know different people get different side effects from meds.

Go get yourself a little snack
