Rant: Fitness "Trainers" @ the Gym

Since I've been consistently coming back to the gym this past month, the trainers at the gym never cease to amaze me. It's like, they pray on middle aged, overweight women to get in shape. Each time I'm there, I see 1-2 trainers giving their 'client' the same tired *kitten* workout routine. Doing lat pulls at 10lbs..smh..What is that going to do?

I'm not anti-trainer by any means, but the title of 'fitness trainer" is thrown around to loosely these days. Anyone can take a quick weekend class and be "certified". Last week I had one of the trainers stop me, and bug me during while I was between sets. First he started his sales pitch by going on and on about how he can help me 'tone' up without looking bulky like a man. He went on and on about how he could tell that I, "am not like those women who want to bulk up like a man". He then informed me that to get really good results I'd need to at LEAST sign up for 6 months of training with him.

Make a long story short, I ended up telling him my aspirations of being a figure competitor, which then completely changed his 'sales pitch". LOL, he then wanted to name drop talking about Monica Brant (who has been a model competitor since I was in high school)

As I said before, I'm not anti-trainer but a lot of these people should be not hold the title. I also understand that some people, especially those just beginning a workout routine do need that accountability of having a trainer. But, if all he has you doing is a quick circuit of 5-10lbs week in and week out, what progress will you really be making? You could get your own accountability on that note for free. Ok, sorry for the rant, lol carry on.
