My first baby steps with strength training

Okay, so I have been strength training now for two weeks, with weight machines at the YMCA - routine is prepared weekly by trainers on ActivTrax computer. Irritatingly, I have gained a couple of pounds and have ~1.5" of belly bloat. Not happy with those particular results. The strength training is fine, not terribly sore, but a little. Adding it to my 2 hrs. of aqua cardio in the pool hasn't been any problem at all. Apparently I am right on track to a slow increase in weight lifted with little chance of injury, and I am feeling firmer muscles already. So far, I'm pretty satisfied.

But I would like some tips to get rid of that bloat. Ideas anyone? (BTW, I'm staying hydrated+.)

    Are you tracking sodium? That was huge for me. I had NO IDEA how bloated I was from lunch meat, condiments,etc. your diary is closed, I opened mine & that's the 1st thing everyone pointed out to me. Good luck!
